Teresópolis

Teresópolis is a small town up in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, which is about 910 meters above the sea level and it’s 93 km from downtown Rio. The road is one of the best highways in the country. There are about 150,000 inhabitants in it and it is specially organized in order to attend you. You can easily exchange Dollars , Pounds or Euros in Teresópolis. We have one of the best climates in the world. The weather is usually about 17º Celsius. Our winters have the sunniest days of the year and at night in the winter it goes down to something between 4º and 8º Celsius sometimes (0º Celsius = 32 Fahrenheit). But that happens only in the coldest days. There`s always a fresh breeze during our summers and at night you can sleep as nice as if you wore in autumn.

Interchange / Staying in Teresópolis/homestay: We usually help our students find the best accommodations like hotels, host families with full or half board service, money exchanging etc. We are able to pick our students up at the airport and then take them back whenever it is necessary. The host families are always a good option in case you want to stay with one of our families and feel the warm and gentle atmosphere of our families. It really feels great being with them. There are all kinds of accommodations ranging from small but pretty comfortable hotels (for backpackers ) or those who prefer to spend only one or two days here) to four or five stars hotels. There are lots of good hotels called ´farm hotels´ in our city too. They are in and outside the city where there are lots of trees, lakes and animals in case you´re looking for fresh air, silence and good service besides their real good qualities.

Teresópolis is a comfortable city with such fantastic restaurants; a nice structure for anybody who comes from other countries. We have many internet places downtown where people can go and exchange information, supermarkets, shopping centers, taxis, buses and the National Park which is a place where everybody just loves visiting. Because some of our Portuguese students need to know things about the city like, how to get here, where to stay, visiting other places in our country etc, we got a close connection with some travel agencies in town and because of our volunteer work with the local city hall we got closer to the city sports and tourism department which has been a great support to our foreign students.
